Questions & Answers

  • Constantly breathing through your mouth is wreaking havoc on your health. Many people breathe through the mouth, unaware that they are doing so, especially when they are sleeping. Over time, those who habitually breathe through their mouths suffer negative health effects of over-breathing: stress, dry mouth, periodontal disease, gingivitis, tooth decay, snoring, hoarseness, teeth/jaw abnormalities, poor posture, decreased lung functions, sleep apnea, sleep deprivation and overall poorer quality of life.

Mouth breathing leads to chronic health conditions. Taping the mouth shut is a simple, effective solution to stop mouth breathing. BreatheWell’s Mouth Tape delivers this simple solution in easy to use, pre-cut strips, which help restore nasal breathing, improves sleep and overall health and well-being.

  • No, mouth tape can also be used during exercise, periods of rest or office work when you want to focus on nasal breathing. Often mouth breathers are unaware they stop nasal breathing and shift into mouth breathing; taping helps bring awareness to developing consistent nasal breathing.

  • “Breathing through my nose throughout the night has drastically reduced my daytime anxiety. Also, I no longer wake up with morning breath or a dry mouth.” Sarah, NY

“Not exaggerating, I tape my mouth every night now. I cannot imagine not wanting to go with out. Taping is like putting on a comforting blanket.” Sarah, FL

  • Breathe Well’s Mouth Tape is a hypoallergenic and latex-free micro-pore paper tape that is gentle on the skin, highly-breathable and lightweight. Its medical-grade adhesive is designed for use on skin, with a simple design for ease of use, the pressure-sensitive adhesive leaves minimal residue.

  • Breathe Well’s Mouth Tape is designed to be placed with the longer edge running vertically from the top of the mouth to the bottom.

This is our preferred method of application:

    1. Remove a strip of tape from the release sheet.

    2. Fold a small piece of one corner on top of itself. The fold is intentionally small and is utilized as a tab to remove the tape from skin when use is concluded.

    3. Hold lips firmly together

    4. Press the edge of the tape above the lips and let the tape drape over the lips themselves, then run finger over bottom edge of tape, adhering to the skin just below the lips. It is not necessary to adhere to the lips themselves. (You may want to apply lip balm to moisturize the lips.)

    5. When ready to remove, gently peel away from skin using the folded corner.

  • Each sheet contains 32 pieces of BreatheWell Mouth Tape. If you use the mouth tape once a day or only at night, one sheet will last you about a month. For mouth tapers using multiple pieces a day, two to three sheets per month is common.

  • Yes. The application is slightly different than described above. The pressure-sensitive tape requires skin to properly adhere, and so with a beard or mustache, you may not get the tape properly affixed above and below the lips and will need to press the tape to the lips themselves.

  • The purpose of the BreatheWell’s Mouth Tape is to keep the mouth shut so that the body relies on nasal breathing; the body’s preferred breathing pathway. Taping the smallest area of the mouth as necessary, our Breath Tape is designed to sit in the center of the mouth which allows for venting out the sides for the occasional cough, sneeze or talking.

  • The high-quality adhesive used on BreatheWell’s Mouth Tape allows for it to be gently pulled down below the top lip allowing the mouth to open for hydration and then gently tapped back into place.

  • Everyone’s skin and body temperature is slightly different and will interact with the adhesive differently. If you find the adhesive too strong for your skin or leaving a residue, we have discovered that pressing the tape on the skin of the top of the hand a time or two will slightly reduce the adhesive effect allowing you to customize the tape to suit your skin

  • Yes. Breathe Well’s Breath Tape is manufactured, from start to finish, in the United States.

  • Numerous studies and scientific experts concur on the health benefits of nasal breathing over mouth breathing. The nasal passages act as a natural filtration system, humidifying and warming the air before it reaches the lungs, thus reducing the risk of respiratory tract infections. Consistent nasal breathing also encourages diaphragmatic breathing, which can enhance lung function and overall respiratory efficiency. In contrast, mouth breathing bypasses these advantageous mechanisms and may lead to a range of health issues, including dry mouth, snoring, and disrupted sleep patterns. As science continues to shed light on the substantial advantages of nasal breathing, individuals are increasingly encouraged to prioritize this breathing technique for improved overall well-being.

Nestor delves into the significance of proper breathing techniques and their impact on our overall health. Through research and personal experimentation, the book challenges conventional wisdom on this fundamental yet overlooked aspect of human physiology, offering insights on how conscious breathing can enhance physical well-being and mental clarity.
